About Us
Sustaineering is a team from the University of Aberdeen, participanting in the Innovate Uk funded ICURe Discover programme.
We are committed to transforming waste, particularly plastic waste, into valuable resources. Our mission is to address the global waste crisis through innovative technologies and solutions that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable.
Our team comprises experts in waste management, chemical engineering, and environmental science, all working together to create a cleaner and more sustainable world. At Sustaineering, we believe in the power of innovation and the importance of sustainability. We strive to lead by example, promoting a circular economy and reducing the environmental impact of waste.
The Problem
Sustaineering Limited addresses the pressing global challenge of waste management, particularly focusing on the immense problem posed by plastic waste. With the rapid increase in plastic consumption worldwide, traditional waste management methods have proven inadequate, leading to widespread environmental pollution and resource depletion. Plastic waste, in particular, poses a significant challenge due to its non-biodegradable nature, persistence in the environment, and detrimental impact on ecosystems and human health. Current disposal methods, such as landfilling and incineration, contribute to pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource wastage. Moreover, the linear “take-make-dispose” model prevalent in many industries exacerbates the problem by perpetuating a culture of single-use plastics and unsustainable consumption patterns. Therefore, the urgent need to find sustainable solutions for plastic waste management has become a global imperative, driving the search for innovative technologies and approaches.
